Sad Chapter

This whole sad chapter (one of many) involving the Jackson County Sheriff's Department over the past several years; the most recent of which involves the underage drinking, use of illegal drugs,
and the rape of a fourteen year old girl at a Sylva business (Dillard Excavating) on Friday October 25 while there were Sheriff's department personnel present and seemingly willingly participating is devastating.
The sheriff's department personnel involved could have been (may very well have been) drinking and using drugs with your child or somebody that you know's child.

Sheriff Jimmy Ashe is wisely retiring now and we applaud him for it. I voted for Jimmy every time he ran, especially to get that crook Cruzan out of office. Unfortunately the promise (not talking campaign promises here) of something new and better--a real and trust-worthy leader never fully materialized. Folks, if you know anything about what's been going on with the JC Sheriff's Dept. over the past few years and the different 'troubles' that the department has experienced then you know I'm being generous. This story has 'legs' as they say in the news business. Stay tuned...
